2012 Career Day

November 1-2, 2012

The Foundation’s annual Career Day is part of our ongoing effort to provide education programs and opportunities to real estate students and young professionals. This event is an educational outreach forum designed for young people who are looking to build a career in real estate.

Each year, Career Day attracts students from all over the country, providing them with an opportunity to learn from top executives and to gain insight and experience into this ever changing field.  This unparalleled opportunity is provided to students for minimal costs.

In October 2011, the Foundation hosted it’s Fifth Annual Career Day.  The experience included a Fireside Chat with Richard Stein, Senior Managing Director of Mesirow Financial, followed by a tour of 353 N. Clark Street, as well as a site tour of 111 W. Wacker Drive (an active construction site), followed by a discussion with Don Biernacki, President of Related Midwest, who recently acquired the distressed property.  It also featured a Young Guns Panel and Networking Dinner at Edwardo’s Pizza, where students learned about career paths from some of the brightest young “stars” in the real estate field.  The Young Guns Panelists included Matt Darin (Frontline Real Estate Partners), Brandon Duff (Stan Johnson Company), Emily Slovitt (Prudential Mortgage Capital Company) and Mike Reed (Supervalu).  The experience ended with a Roundtable Luncheon where students had the opportunity to have intimate discussions with over 20 of the city’s top real estate professionals.
